Brandon Merchant – Youth Instructor and Coach, MPTLL

Brandon Merchant was born and raised in Charlotte. He played baseball at Myers Park Trinity and Charlotte Country Day (’91). He graduated from the University of Richmond (’95).

Merchant is a private hitting and pitching instructor and youth coach at Myers Park Trinity (MPTLL). He has coached over 35 various teams during the league’s spring, fall and all-star seasons, including the team he played for, Al Browne, since 2001. He enjoys following the high school and collegiate baseball careers of many of the youth players he has coached.

Merchant serves on the MPTLL Board of Directors and manages the league’s social media, marketing efforts and registration drives. He writes two youth baseball blogs, one for MPTLL, and his personal site, HardballMechanics.com.

He has a wife, Megan, and two boys, Henry and Spencer. They live within a baseball’s throw of Country Day’s Ed Walton Field.
