Danny Hignight – Head Coach Providence H.S.

Born in San Diego, California

I was raised in Taylorsville, North Carolina where I attended and played at Alexander Central High School.  I received my bachelor degree from Appalachian State University in 2000.   While attending Appalachian State I served as an assistant coach for Pete Hardee at Watauga High School from 1998-2000.  I went on to work for Hal Bagwell at South Mecklenburg High School from 2000-2003.

In 2003 I was hired to be a physical education teacher and head baseball coach at Providence High School.  During my 9 seasons at Providence we have won 6 conference championships and 5 tournament championships.  We have had 7 players go on to play professional baseball with 4 being drafted out of Providence.  43 of our players have gone on to play at the next level.  In the summer of 2011 I was named to our USA National Staff and was an assistant coach for our 14U Pan Am gold medal winning team.  I also currently serve as the head coach of the South Charlotte Panthers showcase team.
